And finally, Remedy has kept its word. After some time keeping Alan Wake fans on edge, the company kept insisting that we would see it throughout this year. A leak by the voice of the titular protagonist warned us that it would be available in October. Now, thanks to the PlayStation Showcase, the Japanese company’s summer conference, we have a definite release date.
Announced at the 2021 Game Awards, the sequel to Alan Wake is one of the most anticipated video games for fans of horror titles. After having acquired all the rights to the brand by buying them from Microsoft, the Finnish studio made a deal with Epic Games for the development of the official sequel to Alan Wake.
Since then, we have known very little about it. A few messages here and there that the game was progressing properly and little material to go along with it. Now, a terrifying new trailer confirms the arrival of Alan Wake 2 for October 17 of this same year.
Picking up the story where it left off, the game seems to opt to be darker and scarier than the original, while also introducing a second playable character: an FBI agent. We don’t know how her story will mix with Alan’s, especially while he’s still trapped in the Dark Place.
Of course, it seems that the study created in Finland is very busy. With a Control sequel already announced and Max Payne remakes in the pipeline, Remedy’s shared universe is in the process of expanding massively. It must be remembered that Quantum Break is not part of this, but it does conceptually connect concepts and recently returned to Game Pass. Maybe it’s a good time to (re)visit it?
