The Corner of the Immortals (chess videos): Wonderful postcard art | The corner of the immortals

Correspondence chess still exists today, but it is very different from what it was just 30 years ago. Then, a very high quality chess was sought, the result of countless hours of analysis, often shared with friends or teammates. Now perfection is sought because human players are limited to choosing from recommendations of silicon monsters that calculate millions of moves per second. Then, by postal mail, the games lasted for years; now, by email, weeks or few months.

The one in this video -the 400 of El Rincón de los Inmortales- is a marvel produced in the middle of the last century by two of the most prestigious Spanish clubs, the Peña Rey Ardid de Bilbao and the Barcelona Chess Club. It is a very spectacular fight with castling on opposite flanks and abundant blows of great beauty.
