NBA Playoffs – playoffs – working day 14
Trae Young, the point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, has made the Celtics’ day bitter. Those from Boston promised a comfortable classification with a few minutes left to finish the fifth game of the tie. In that, Young has thrown the team on top. The point guard has given an exhibition with 13 assists and 38 points, 15 of them in the last quarter. The Hawks have won at the TD Garden in Boston (117-119) and the tie returns to Atlanta. At the moment it is 3-2 in favor of Boston in a series to the best of 7 games.
The difference between the Celtics and the Hawks is very big on paper, but the Atlantans already surprised the third game at home and have hit it again, this time at home.
Those from Atlanta surprised in the third game, but those from Boston put the tie on track in the fourth and returned to the TD Garden with a 3-1 advantage in a best-of-7-games tie. They therefore had three chances to win, but they took advantage of the first.
The Hawks have started off inspired in attack and ready to fight and have closed the first quarter with a 27-30 advantage, thanks to 6 triples of 11 attempts. The Celtics have stepped on the accelerator in the second quarter, in which they have scored 39 points, and have gone to halftime with 66-58 in favor. In the second half of the game they have been managing their advantage, which was 10 points with 7 minutes to go.
However, with less than three minutes to go, two consecutive triples by Trae Young have allowed the Hawks to equalize (111-111). From that moment on, the advantages on the scoreboard have alternated.
Derrick White has put the Celtics ahead 117-116 with 7.3 seconds remaining. In Atlanta’s last possession, the ball went, of course, into the hands of Young, who closed the game with a stratospheric three-pointer from almost 10 meters that went through the ring with 1.8 seconds to go. The partial of the last quarter has been 25-37 in favor of the Hawks. In the game as a whole, the Hawks have hit 19 3-pointers.
John Collins had 22 points for Atlanta, which has played without Dejounte Murray, suspended one game for chest hitting referee Gediminas Petraitis as he left the field after the end of the fourth game of the series.
For the Celtics, Jaylen Brown, who has put on his face protection mask again, has worked on offense, with a series of 15 baskets in 23 field goals for a total of 35 points. Tatum, on the other hand, has been below his scoring level (19 points and 8 of 22 from the field), although he has added 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
The sixth game is played this Thursday in Atlanta and, if necessary, the seventh and final game would be again at the TD Garden in Boston.
In the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Philadelphia 76ers of Joel Embiid and James Harden await, who quickly dispatched the Brooklyn Nets (4-0). On the other side of the table, the Bucks suffer against the Miami Heat and trail behind in the tie (1-3) while the New York Knicks are ahead against the Cleveland Cavaliers with three wins and one loss.
